Welcome to the AAPI Division
At Voices Beyond Assault, we proudly introduce our AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Division, dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by AAPI survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Our goal is to provide culturally competent, inclusive support to empower every survivor on their journey to healing.
The Importance of This Division
Voices Beyond Assault is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges that AAPI survivors of sexual and domestic violence face. Members of the AAPI community often face additional layers of cultural stigma, language barriers, and a lack of culturally competent support services, which can further compound their trauma. Fear of bringing shame to their families and communities often leads to silence and isolation. Our AAPI Community Division is essential in overcoming these barriers by providing culturally competent care and support.
Critical Insights and Statistics
AAPI individuals face distinct and often heightened risks of violence:

stigmasand fear of shame, leading to
underreporting and lack of support. Many
feel pressured to remain silent due to
cultural expectations and familial obligations (National Domestic Violence 2020).
Immigrant Challenges

obstacles, such as fear of deportation and
limited access to resources due to language
barriers (Asian Pacific Institute on Gender
-Based Violence, 2018).
