Welcome to Men of VBA
Men of VBA is a dedicated initiative focused on providing specialized support for male survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Recognizing the unique and often overlooked needs of men in these situations, our mission is to create a safe space where male survivors can find comprehensive resources and tailored assistance.
The Importance of This Division
Our organization recognizes that men can also be survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Historically, the experiences of male survivors have often been overlooked or minimized, leading to a significant gap in support services. Many men face societal stigma and internalized shame that prevent them from seeking help. Our Men of VBA Division addresses this critical need by providing a dedicated space where male survivors can feel safe to share their stories and access the support they deserve.
Addressing the Need
Male survivors face unique challenges and stigmas that can hinder their access to support:
Prevalence
1 in 6 men experience sexual violence
in their lifetime. 1 in 20 boys under the age
of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault.
Domestic Violence
1 in 9 men endure severe intimate partner
violence, including physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking (CDC, 2020).
Barriers to Help
Many male survivors struggle with
societal stigma, leading to underreporting
and a lack of resources tailored to their needs.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to breaking the silence and stigma surrounding male survivors, offering a safe space for men to seek help, share their stories, and find the support they need. Through advocacy, counseling, and community outreach, we aim to empower male survivors to heal, regain control over their lives, and find renewed strength and resilience.
