Our Human Trafficking Division provides specialized care and resources to help survivors reclaim their lives from the grip of exploitation and violence. Whether it’s forced labor or sexual exploitation, our goal is to create a path of hope, healing, and empowerment for every
survivor we assist.
The Importance of This Division
Human trafficking is an urgent global crisis that requires immediate attention. According to the
International Labour Organization (ILO), there are approximately 24.9 million victims of
trafficking worldwide, many of whom endure relentless abuse, exploitation, and violence.
Survivors are subjected to unimaginable physical, emotional, and psychological trauma, often
isolated from their families, communities, and any means of escape.
Global Crisis
Human trafficking does not discriminate
based on geography,
socioeconomic status,
or background. It occurs in every corner of the
globe, affecting
vulnerable individuals who are
preyed upon by traffickers. From forced labor
in factories
and domestic servitude to sexual
exploitation in brothels, trafficking strips
individuals of
their basic human rights and
dignity.
Impact on Women and Girls
Women and girls are disproportionately
affected by
trafficking, making up 71% of
all victims worldwide. Many are lured or
coerced into
trafficking for sexual , leaving
them in a cycle of violence, control, fear.
The trauma endured by these survivors can
have long-lasting effects on their mental,
emotional,and physical well-being .
Barriers to Escape
For many survivors, escaping their traffickers is
an overwhelming
challenge. Traffickers use a
variety of tactics to exert control, including
threats of
violence, manipulation through
substance abuse, and financial coercion. These
survivors
often face immense barriers freedom,
such as a lack of safe spaces, limited access to
resources, and an inability to trust others, which
makes breaking free an incredibly
complex and dangerous process.
Understanding the Crisis of Human Trafficking
The scale of human trafficking is staggering, with an estimated 5.4 out of every 1,000 people
around the world being victims of forced labor or sexual exploitation. Traffickers exploit
vulnerabilities, coercing individuals into situations of abuse, violence, and slavery. Survivors face
not only physical harm but also profound psychological and emotional damage that can take
years to heal.
Violence and Control:
Survivors of trafficking often experience extreme forms of
violence and control. Many are subjected to beatings, rape, starvation, and other forms
of abuse meant to break their will and keep them compliant. Additionally, traffickers
frequently control victims through substance abuse, manipulation of their legal status,
and threats to harm their loved ones, leaving them trapped in fear and despair.
Legal and Social Barriers:
For survivors, even after they manage to escape their
traffickers, they face daunting legal and social challenges. Many are left without
documentation or financial resources, and the legal systems in many countries can be
complicated and difficult to navigate without proper support. Survivors often require legal
advocacy to help them reclaim their rights, rebuild their lives, and access the justice they
deserve.
